FONTANA >> Manufacturing jobs have been increasing in the Inland Empire at a much faster rate than the state and nation.

From 2009 to 2016, manufacturing jobs in San Bernardino County increased 13.3 percent — from 49,000 to 55,500 jobs, said Robert Kleinhenz, economist for The Center for Economic Forecasting and Development at UC Riverside.

POMONA >> The U.S. Department of Justice awarded Pomona a grant to combat human trafficking and prostitution, the office of Rep. Norma J. Torres, D-Pomona, announced Wednesday.

The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant is in the amount of $69,550, a news release states. Pomona will use the money to bolster the city’s human trafficking and prostitution enforcements.
