Torres Announces HUD Community Planning and Development Funding For Inland Empire

Money Will Help Cities Address Housing Needs

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Congresswoman Norma J. Torres (CA-35) announced new federal community planning and development funding for local cities from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The funds were secured through the Omnibus Appropriations package and will be used for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME), and Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) programs in the Inland Empire. As a member of the House Appropriations Committee, Torres advocated and prioritized significant increases in funding for these important federal programs, which help create affordable housing opportunities, assist people experiencing homelessness, and expand economic development opportunities in economically distressed areas.

"These critical federal funds announced today are going to provide affordable housing and improve our communities for generations to come," said Congresswoman Torres. "This money will help provide people the resources to change their lives with expanded economic opportunity and increased affordable housing. In my role on the Appropriations Committee, I will continue to prioritize the needs of the Inland Empire and secure resources to help address our communities' most pressing issues."
