Congresswoman Torres to Serve as Air Cargo Caucus Co-Chair in the 118th Congress
Washington, D.C. – Today, Democratic Representative Norma J. Torres (CA-35) announced she will be a co-chair of the Air Cargo Caucus in the 118th Congress, alongside Republican Rep. Brian Mast (FL-21). The bipartisan, 34-member caucus was first established in 2019, and its mission is to educate Members and staff about the air cargo industry and its economic impact. The caucus also works to bring industry voices, including carriers and suppliers, to Congress.
"Air cargo is what makes our 21st Century economy run, connecting businesses and consumers across the globe to the goods they need," said Congresswoman Torres. "Located in my district, Ontario International Airport ranks among the 10 largest cargo airports in North America. As the new co-chair of the Air Cargo Caucus, I look forward to working on behalf of my constituents to support the sustainable growth of the logistics industry."
"The men and women who work in the air cargo industry are among the most creative and hardworking problem solvers anywhere," said Rep. Mast. "Logistics are never easy, but they don't back down from the challenge that comes with making sure our shelves are stocked. I'm excited to work with Rep. Torres to advocate for air cargo and to keep goods moving!"
"We are thankful for Representative Torres' leadership that will enable the Air Cargo Caucus to thrive along with Representative Mast as he continues his co-chair role," said Gina Zuckerman, Vice President of Legislative Policy for the Cargo Airline Association. "The Air Cargo Caucus is a place where a bipartisan group of Members can work together, and we anticipate growing membership for the 118th Congress as the Caucus continues to highlight the impact that air cargo plays throughout the country."
In celebration of Congresswoman Torres serving as a co-chair of the Air Cargo Caucus for the 118th Congress, the Cargo Airline Association distributed flowers and cards announcing the news on Valentine's Day to offices on Capitol Hill. To learn more about the Air Cargo Caucus, click HERE.
