Torres, McCaul, Raskin, McGovern Statement Condemning Persecution Against Ahmadiyya Muslims
Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Norma Torres (D-Calif.) and Congressman Michael McCaul (R-Texas), co-chairs of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Caucus, along with Caucus Members Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) and James McGovern (D-Mass.) released the following statement on increasing persecution of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community throughout the world.
"The recent terrorist attack that resulted in the slaying of nine Ahmadiyya Muslims in Burkina Faso is a criminal display of hate. This religious minority has faced well-documented and severe discrimination that has led to grave human rights abuses and atrocities in Pakistan and other parts of the world. We are saddened for the Ahmadiyya community and condemn in the strongest manner the targeted attack on these individuals, and the continued persecution of this community. The United States must continue to be a voice for the voiceless who are persecuted for their beliefs."
