Congresswoman Torres Secures $54 Million to Address Housing Needs in Inland Empire
Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Norma J. Torres (CA-35) today announced that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is providing over $54 million in funding to build affordable housing, support community development, and provide homeless assistance in San Bernardino, Los Angeles & Riverside Counties. The allocation was secured as a part of HUD's Fiscal Year 2023 funding and will be used for Community Development Block Grants (CDBG), Home Investment Partnerships (HOME), and Emergency Solutions Grants (ESG) programs in the Inland Empire.
"Every family deserves a safe, decent place to call home and the number one concern I hear from my constituents in the Inland Empire is about the lack of affordable housing. In Congress, it has been one of my top priorities to expand access to housing for communities across Southern California," said Congresswoman Torres. "This funding from the Department of Housing and Urban Development will ensure our friends and neighbors can live out part of the American Dream. I look forward to continuing to work with local stakeholders to address housing needs in the Inland Empire."
As a member of the U.S. House Appropriations Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development Subcommittee (THUD), Torres successfully advocated for significant increases in funding for these federal housing programs.
