Rep. Torres on Authorization for Use of Military Force
When I think about the decision to send our service men and women to fight a war, I think about my son Christopher, an Air Force veteran, and the millions of Gold and Blue Star parents. One of Congress' most important duties is to authorize the use of military force, but for too long Congress has avoided this responsibility. Yesterday, I voted to repeal the 2001 AUMF that has allowed presidents to send our sons and daughters to war without debating where, or why, or for how long.
