Torres Statement on Metro Board of Directors Vote to Approve Gold Line Foothill Extension to Pomona

January 24, 2019

WASHINGTON, DC — Today, U.S. Representative Norma J. Torres (D-Pomona) released the following statement in response to the Metro Board of Directors vote to approve the Gold Line Foothill extension from La Verne to Pomona:

"Today's vote by the Metro Board of Directors to approve the Gold Line extension is a win for the Inland Empire. Not only will this allow people to go car-free and reduce traffic, it will also put us on a path towards environmental sustainability and improved air quality. In Congress, I have long been working to strengthen transportation options that will promote economic development and the quality of life for the entire region. As a member of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, and Housing and Urban Development, I will continue to support this project on the federal level and press for the Gold Line segment connecting Los Angeles County to Ontario Airport."
