Torres and Fitzpatrick Introduce Bipartisan Resolution to Recognize National Night Out

WASHINGTON – Last week, Representatives Norma J. Torres (CA-35) and Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-01) introduced a bipartisan resolution to recognize August 2, 2022, as National Night Out. Every year on the first Tuesday of August, communities across the United States and their local law enforcement agencies come together to promote public safety and build community-police partnerships in their communities. The resolution is supported by the National Association of Town Watch, which provides community watch groups the necessary information, resources, and assets to stay informed, interested, involved, and motivated within the community.

"As a former 911 dispatcher and mother to a police officer, I know how important our law enforcement and community partners are to reducing crimes and protecting our communities," said Congresswoman Torres. "I'm proud to be reintroducing this resolution with Congressman Fitzpatrick recognizing National Night Out because it's imperative our communities come together to promote public safety and build transformative community-police partnerships."

"Our local law enforcement are essential to creating strong and safe communities," said Congressman Fitzpatrick. "National Night Out offers an opportunity for neighborhoods and their community police to forge closer relationships and reinforce the presence of public safety resources as a community asset. I am proud to sponsor this bipartisan resolution."

"We are proud to be endorsing Congresswoman Torres and Congressman Fitzpatrick's resolution recognizing National Night Out," said the National Association of Town Watch. "On August 2nd, communities across the nation will come together to celebrate police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. National Night Out reminds us of the importance of being alert and working together to protect our communities and preserve community-building."
