Reps. Torres, Aguilar & Calvert Announce $22.4M in Funding for Local Airports
POMONA – U.S. Representatives Norma J. Torres (CA-35), Pete Aguilar (CA-31) and Ken Calvert (CA-42) today announced more than $22.4 million in funding for local airports as part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act.
The funds bring vital support to airports at a time when reduced air travel raises the prospect of layoffs and reductions in future services.

Congresswoman Torres, whose district includes Ontario International Airport, said:
"The CARES Act continues to deliver crucial support for residents across the Inland Empire – the funding we announced today will ensure our community enjoys the same local, reliable, and convenient transportation opportunities in the future that we've worked so hard to develop over time. Residents across our region are making tremendous sacrifices to overcome this virus, and I will continue to fight in Congress to provide the vital support workers and businesses need, and the long-term investments like this one to protect our way of life."
Congressman Aguilar, who represents Cable, San Bernardino International, and Redlands Municipal airports, said:
"Our airports are key components of our region's economy, providing good-paying jobs to thousands of Inland Empire residents. I was proud to support the CARES Act so that key industries in our region would have the resources they need to overcome the challenges posed by the coronavirus crisis. I'll continue working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to ensure Inland Empire businesses and families have access to federal support to help them overcome these challenges."
Congressman Calvert, whose district includes Corona Municipal and French Valley Airports, said:
"Secretary Chao's quick allocation of funds provided in the CARES Act will provide our region with necessary support in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. This funding will help our local airports, including Corona Municipal and French Valley, weather the current crisis. These airports remain a lifeline for regional commerce and I appreciate the Secretary's dedication to ensuring our nation's infrastructure is resilient to this pandemic. I will continue to work with my colleagues to ensure that our region has the resources it needs to emerge from these trying times as strong as ever."
Reps. Torres, Aguilar and Calvert all serve on the House Appropriations Committee, the committee responsible for allocating federal funding.
