Congresswoman Torres Touts Nearly $16 Million in Federal Funding for Ontario International Airport
Pomona, CA — Congresswoman Norma J. Torres (CA-35) announced today the delivery of $15,938,310 in federal grant funding to Ontario International Airport (ONT), the Inland Empire’s premier transportation hub. This grant is part of the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) 2023 Airport Improvement Program (AIP), which funds significant runway and taxiway reconstruction and repair costs.
“As our region and economy continue to grow, Ontario International Airport is vital for getting people and cargo where they need to be quickly and efficiently,” said Congresswoman Torres. “Sitting at the heart of California’s 35th District, ONT needs infrastructure upgrades to support the growing volume of cargo and travelers through the Inland Empire. I supported this nearly $16 million grant to repair ONT’s runways, strengthen its infrastructure, and make sure everyone and everything flying through ONT reaches their destination on time. As a voice for the Inland Empire, I will always fight to invest in our transportation infrastructure so that residents and visitors alike can live, stay, and work in the Inland Empire.”
“We would like to thank Congress and the Administration for continuing to invest in our infrastructure and supporting Ontario International Airport’s role as the gateway of choice for millions of Southern Californians. This latest round of funding is critical to ONT's ability to meet the needs of one of the fastest-growing population, employment and economic centers in the United States,” said Alan D. Wapner, President of the Ontario International Airport Authority Board of Commissioners.
As a member of the U.S. House Appropriations Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development Subcommittee (THUD), Congresswoman Torres has successfully increased funding for key transportation and infrastructure programs to benefit the Inland Empire.
