Congresswoman Torres and Congressman Fitzpatrick Reintroduce Bipartisan Resolution National Night Out
Promoting Public Safety and Unity
Washington D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Norma J. Torres (CA-35) and Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-1) announced a bipartisan reintroduction to a resolution to designate August 6, 2024, as National Night Out. National Night Out has been successful for nearly forty years, thanks to the active involvement of communities nationwide. The event aims to strengthen partnerships with first responders and foster unity among neighborhoods. It encourages communities to come together to improve the relationship between law enforcement and residents. Over 38,000,000 neighbors in more than 16,000 communities nationwide participate in National Night Out, contributing to its success.
“Members of our local law enforcement serve and protect us every single day and they deserve recognition for the sacrifices they make to keep our families and communities safe! As a former 9-1-1 dispatcher for over 17 and a half years and the mother of a current police officer, I understand the importance of building trust and cooperation between law enforcement and the communities they protect,” said Congresswoman Norma Torres. “This event is not just a celebration of those who serve but a crucial opportunity to nurture and strengthen the trust and community connections between law enforcement and the public. I look forward to celebrating another fun-filled National Night Out and encourage families, business leaders, and community advocates alike to join in to promote public safety and awareness this August 6th.”
