Town hall to discuss opportunities

March 1, 2016

Hosted by state Assemblywoman Cheryl R. Brown, D-San Bernardino, the event will cover transportation, logistics, the environment, economic development and job opportunities.

A panel discussion will include Christopher Gopal of the Drucker School of Management at Claremont Graduate University and John Husing, an Inland economist and consultant.

The Inland area has seen growing job opportunities as more warehouses are needed to store the growing volume of goods arriving from the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach.

But this growth has also raised concerns about increased truck traffic, air pollution, and the quality of many warehouse jobs.

Top Democrats from around the region have been invited to participate in the meeting. Among them are Rep. Norma Torres and Assembly members Chris Holden, Jose Medina, Sebastian Ridley-Thomas, Jim Cooper, Rudy Salas and Reggie Jones-Sawyer.

The meeting starts at noon at the Business Conference Center at San Bernardino Valley College, 701 S. Mt. Vernon Ave., San Bernardino. Free parking is available in Lot 11.
