Washington, DC Internships

This internship is an excellent opportunity for those interested in public service and learning more about the legislative process. Interns will have the opportunity to be hands-on in the legislative process by assisting with Rep. Torres’ responsibilities on the Appropriations and House Administration Committees. Intern responsibilities include:
- researching legislation
- attending hearings and briefings
- drafting constituent letters
- assisting the press and legislative teams push policy forward
- drafting memoranda for the staff
- administrative work as needed
Our office seeks to help you grow beyond the typical intern responsibilities by incorporating your passions and goals into your internship. Additionally, specific press internships are also available to work directly with the Press Secretary to develop and implement communications and social media strategies.
The Internship Program is full-time from 9AM to 6PM when Congress is in session and 9AM to 5 PM during recess. Payment is distributed as a monthly stipend at the end of each month. Please note, unless an applicant is financially sponsored by an outside organization, House rules state that all paid House of Representatives employees must be United States citizens.

Ontario, CA Internships
The District Office accepts applications on a rolling basis.
This internship is an excellent opportunity for those interested in public service and learning more about connecting the federal government to your local community. Interns will have the opportunity to be hands-on in a Congressional office. Typical intern responsibilities include:
- Working on District-based projects and events
- Intaking potential constituent casework
- Assisting field representatives with field events throughout the District
- Administrative work such as answering phones and handling mail
Part-time interns must be available for a minimum of 12 hours per week. Understanding that class schedules vary, we are flexible and willing to accommodate your student needs. Part-time interns do not receive a stipend. Dreamers are encouraged to apply.
Full-time interns must be available for a minimum of 6 weeks. Payment is distributed as a monthly stipend at the end of each month.
