Rep. Torres CJS Markup Remarks on #Census2020 Citizenship Question

Want to talk about a cover-up? How about President Trump and Commerce Secretary Ross’ plan to rig the #2020Census? 400,000 Latino children nationwide weren’t counted in the 2010 Census. Now, Trump wants to add a citizenship question to further limit the Latino count. As a former Mayor, I know how much an under-count would hurt Inland Empire families. It jeopardizes fair representation in Washington and our share of federal funding to fix our roads, improve our schools, and care for our veterans. I worked with the House Appropriations Committee to block this attempt that make it harder for our communities to get the resources they need.
