Torres Sworn into 115th Congress

January 3, 2017

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Rep. Norma J. Torres (D-Pomona) released the following statement on being officially sworn into the 115th Congress:

"I am ready and excited to be back in Washington to begin my second term in Congress and am looking forward to continuing the work I started over the last two years to address the economic challenges facing the Inland Empire, create new ways to attract funding for infrastructure projects, and keep our communities safe. There is no question that we face a lot of uncertainty in the coming months, but my priority will be, as it has always been, the well-being of the people of California's 35th congressional district.

"Just as I did during my first term, I will continue to look for areas of agreement and cooperation with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle, and I am optimistic that we will be able to work together to make our country better for all Americans. But I can assure my constituents that I will never back down from a fight, and I will make sure my voice is heard if policies are proposed that go against the interest of the people I represent. The next two years won't be easy, but I'm ready to get to work."

Torres represents California's 35th congressional district which includes portions of Los Angeles and San Bernardino Counties. She currently sits on the Committee on Homeland Security and the Committee on Natural Resources.
