Torres: I’m Voting to Impeach

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Norma J. Torres (CA-35) released the following statement today announcing that she will vote to impeach President Donald J. Trump.

The President, who withheld much-needed military aid and an official White House meeting from Ukraine to coerce them into investigating Trump's perceived political rival, is charged with abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.

"I will vote to impeach President Trump," Rep. Torres said. "He conditioned official acts – millions in military aid and a coveted White House meeting – for political favors and an advantage in the 2020 election. That's a clear abuse of his power. When caught, he refused to comply with this impeachment inquiry. That's obstruction of Congress.

"Our system of government has never faced such an overt threat from within," Rep. Torres added. "I swore an oath to serve and protect the Constitution when I took office, and I will live up to those words when I vote to impeach this unfortunate and misguided President."
