Torres Announces Housing Relief Funds for Inland Empire

POMONA – Congresswoman Norma J. Torres (CA-35), a member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation and Housing and Urban Development, today announced more than $1.7 million in new funding for local housing agencies.

The funds, which are authorized as part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, will help prevent, prepare and respond to housing needs throughout the Inland Empire during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Rep. Torres released the following statement:

"The funds I'm announcing today will help more Inland Empire residents put a roof overhead in the midst of this pandemic," Rep. Torres said. "Our local housing authorities help make the dream of a home a reality for vulnerable residents and families every single day. As someone who once lost a house to a fire, the urgency in helping struggling families find a home is personal to me. I'm thrilled to announce these CARES Act funds, because I know about all of the good that will come from them."

Since Congress passed the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act on March 27th, Rep. Torres has announced more than $75 million in emergency relief for Inland Empire residents, businesses and community organizations.
