Congresswoman Torres Votes for Bipartisan Humanitarian Aid Package
Washington, D.C. — Today, Congresswoman Norma J. Torres (CA-35) – a senior member of the Appropriations Committee – voted in favor of the bipartisan national security and foreign aid package, consisting of four bills to bolster security in Ukraine, Israel, and the Indo-Pacific region. Yesterday, she voted to advance the $95 billion aid package to the House floor for a final vote.
“Congress has the responsibility to remain a global partner to the countries who depend on our assistance at a moment where our support could not be more critical,” said Congresswoman Torres. We must keep our promises to stand with our allies as they face imminent threats to their safety and prosperity. These global partners share the United States’ mission to protect freedom and democracy in their respective regions. Our humanitarian assistance will save many lives and help build global stability. This aid package has been delayed for far too long, and it’s long past time for Congress to put aside partisan differences to help our allies."
Congresswoman Torres is a member of the Subcommittee on State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs under the House Appropriations Committee.
