Congresswoman Torres Celebrates Inland Empire Receiving $3 Billion in Federal Funding for the Brightline West High-Speed Corridor
Rancho Cucamonga, CA — Congresswoman Norma J. Torres (CA-35) – a senior member of the Transportation Housing and Urban Development Subcommittee of the Appropriations Committee, in charge of all federal funding – celebrated the Department of Transportation’s $3 billion grant for the Brightline West High-Speed Corridor, including $500,000 in federal funding to the city of Rancho Cucamonga. The corridor will run through the Riverside-San Bernardino-Ontario metro area, the heart of the Inland Empire which Torres represents in Congress, and provide high-speed rail infrastructure from Rancho Cucamonga, CA to Las Vegas, NV. This allocation through the Federal Railroad Administration was supported by Congresswoman Torres and comes from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which Torres championed in Congress.
Following the news, Congresswoman Torres and Rancho Cucamonga Mayor L. Dennis Michael released the following statements:
“Transportation is essential to the development of the Inland Empire, connecting our families to good jobs, affordable housing, and to each other,” said Congresswoman Torres. “The Brightline West High-Speed Corridor promises to revolutionize our community’s transportation infrastructure, connecting the Inland Empire directly to Las Vegas via an approximate 2-hour high-speed rail trip and promoting further connectivity to Los Angeles via Amtrak with the new intermodal Cucamonga station. I was proud to support this project at the federal level which will generate significant tourism and economic growth for the region. By completing the nation’s first high-speed rail project on the West Coast, the Inland Empire will lead the way in promoting more public investment in high-speed rail throughout California and the nation.”
“In the pursuit of true high-speed rail service, this stellar achievement underscores the power of innovative vision and unwavering determination within public-private partnerships. As Mayor and on behalf of the entire City Council of City of Rancho Cucamonga, we are thrilled to witness the realization of this transformative project that connects our dynamic regions thanks to the leadership of Congresswoman Torres and other federal partners. This strategic investment in cutting-edge infrastructure not only opens doors to jobs, economic growth, tourism, and commercial ventures but also enhances Southern California’s global connectivity. Cucamonga Station stands as a beacon in this transportation revolution, and we eagerly anticipate the boundless transformations it will bring to our vibrant region,” said Rancho Cucamonga Mayor Michael.
